Christina E. Sanchez

Associate Director
University of North Carolina-Charlotte Office of International Programs

Dr. Christina Sanchez is the Associate Director for International Programs and has worked full-time as a professional in student and academic affairs with an emphasis in international initiatives for 19 years.

At UNC-Charlotte, Christina focuses on the continued campus internationalization. Areas of professional address include the creation of an international enrichment freshman seminar, development of an international certificate program, leadership with the University College Global General Education project, partner program development, and exploration of institutional internationalization assessment.

Christina received her doctorate in intercultural communication from the University of New Mexico ; her master’s degree in college student personnel administration from James Madison University; and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and English literature from the College of William and Mary.

She presently serves as the Chair for the Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship Knowledge Community. She is an active member of Trainer Corp and former mentor with the Academy. Her current advisor board work includes work with Study North Carolina and Lessons from Abroad.

Jiangyuan Zhou

Internationalization Specialist
Stockton University

Dr. Jiangyuan (JY) Zhou works as the Internationalization Specialist at Stockton University. Her work focuses on internationalizing the campus and the curriculum. She has published her research and work on internationalization of higher education and global learning in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at various conferences including AIEA, NAFSA, and AAC&U Global Learning Conference. She led workshops for faculty from diverse disciplines on various campuses. She also created and taught a course called “Understanding Global Learning” based on AAC&U VALUE Rubric. She works closely with faculty members on globalizing their courses across the disciplines. She has initiated and developed many global learning projects to integrate and enhance the roles of technology, languages, and cultures across the curriculum. All these workshops, courses, and projects are very popular and received great feedbacks from students, faculty, staff, administrators, and local community members, and have positive impacts on strengthening global learning at Stockton University. The presenter received her doctoral degree in Educational Theory and Practice, MA in Applied Linguistics, and BA in English Literature.
