Being a Professor of Social Welfare at Chonbuk National University for more than 20 years, I have been working as the Chair of the Department of Social Welfare, the President of the Association of Social Welfare Studies in Korea and Vice President for International Cooperation, Chonbuk National University. Currently, I am serving as the President of the Korean Association of Foreign Student Administrators (KAFSA). To enhance our ability to promote international education around the globe, I and my Korean colleagues will closely cooperate with NAFSA members for deeper collaboration.

Professor Jun Hyun Hong is Vice President for International Affairs of Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea. He also currently holds positions as Director of Institute of Policy and Public Administration and Chair of Joint Program of Public Enterprise Management of CAU. Previously he was Dean of Institute of International Education, Associate Dean of Graduate School and Chair of Department of Public Administration of CAU, and adjunct graduate faculty of Cleveland State University and visiting scholar of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. Besides university positions, he has served as policy advisors various central government agencies such as various Presidential Committees, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Finance and Economy and Ministry of Education of Republic of Korea Government, as well as local governments such as Seoul Metropolitan City and Gyeonggi Province. Due to his continuous public services, he was awarded Presidents Service Merit Medal, Prime Ministers Citation and Minister of Interiors Citation. Professor Hong has also served academic society as President of Korean Association of Foreign Student Administrators (KAFSA), President of Korean Association of Policy Analysis and Evaluation (KAPAE), Editor-in-Chief of Korean Journal of Local Government Studies, Editorial board members of many prestigious Korean Journals including Korean Journal of Public Administration, Korean Journal of Policy Studies, and Korean Journal of Higher Education. He was selected Outstanding Research Performance Awardees by Ministry of Education and by Korea Research Foundation. His current research interest focuses on local autonomy and intergovernmental relations, and internationalization of higher education in Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Public Policy Research and Analysis from University of Pittsburgh in 1995, and MPA and BA from Seoul National University in 1990 and 1987 respectively.
