Representatives of three constituencies discuss their practices that promote the individual student experience while contributing to the overall benefit of the community.

Kerry Geffert is an international educator with a broad skill set, having worked for both universities and international education organizations in the areas of international student services, international recruitment and education abroad. A NAFSAn for 35 years, Kerry has served at the regional and national levels, including Regional Chair, Nominations & Elections Chair, Annual Conference Chair, Chair of the Education Abroad Knowledge Community and Chair/Lead Trainer of the highly successful Management Development Program.

Global Vision International

Steve Gwenin is CEO of Global Vision International (GVI), a mission driven international experiential education organisation. Accordingly, Steve is a mission driven individual with a vast experience of starting and directing experiential education and sustainable development projects. Key strengths are building teams, vision, strategy design and strategic implementation. Has a long history of starting and overseeing successful long term projects in remote locations, from Latin America, Africa, Asia to the Arctic, the US and the UK. He has worked in partnership with a broad range of internationally respected partners, ranging from NGOs such as Save the Children (Mexico) and the Red Cross (Fiji), to state organizations such as National Parks and Ministries of Education and Youth, the British Council, and world respected education institutes and initiatives through programs such as Duke Engage and the Ohio State University STEP program.

Jason A. Kinnear

Interim Associate Dean of Study Abroad
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Jason Kinnear is a passionate higher education executive with experience in education abroad, service-learning and community engagement, program development and administration. Working in international education since 1998, he has held positions in international students & scholar services, education abroad, and service-learning at the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University, and the University of Missouri. He currently serves as Assistant Dean of Study Abroad at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. These positions have focused on exchange, study abroad, faculty-led, service, and internship programs and touched on all aspects of education abroad program development and administration. He is active in the NAFSA, previously holding regional & national leadership positions and is on Trainer Corps. Kinnear received a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado and is completing a PhD in Educational Leadership from Colorado State University.
