Through networking, mentoring, student recruitment, and fundraising, international alumni are a critical resource for global higher education. Whether you have well-established programs or are just beginning to engage international alumni, this session offers strategies and best practices for expanding your efforts at your institution.

Amy Brewster

Constituent Relations Manager
University of Iowa

Amy Brewster, constituent relations manager in International Programs at the University of Iowa, leads a creative team with oversight of our website, social media presence, annual reports, videos, and the creation and implementation of marketing plans related to campus internationalization and other services and programs. Amy is also involved in international alumni engagement and has developed strong relationships with the Alumni Association, Foundation, Alumni Records, and collegiate alumni relations officers to advance international alumni engagement efforts at the University of Iowa. Prior to working in International Programs, Amy served as director of global experiences and academic advisor in the University of Iowa College of Engineering. Amy earned an MA in higher education administration from the University of Minnesota, where she worked for 12 years in student affairs and academic advising administration. Amy has presented at several professional conferences, including: the NAFSA 2017 Annual Conference & Expo, Iowa International Education conferences, and NACADA regional conferences.

Anne Hayner

Associate Director for Alumni Relations
Kroc Institute for Int'l Peace Studies, Univ. of Notre Dame

Anne Hayner is Associate Director for Alumni Relations at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies in the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, where she has worked since 1987. Over this time she has been responsible for coordinating admissions, orientation, student services, and reentry for a highly international MA program in peace studies. She is now responsible for developing a professional peacebuilding network among alumni in 70 countries and connecting students with alumni for career development. In recent years she has presented sessions, workshops and posters for NAFSA and CASE on international alumni relations and on academic ethics across cultures. She majored in languages at the University of Michigan and earned an MA in peace and justice studies from the Earlham School of Religion. She has lived in France, Germany, Israel, and Ireland and speaks four languages.

Daniel Spadafore

Associate Director, International Advancement
Michigan State University

Daniel Spadafore is currently the Associate Director of International Advancement for Michigan State University, the primary individual giving officer for international studies & programs, and a Ph.D. student in Educational Leadership at Eastern Michigan University. He completed his undergraduate degree at EMU and a master's degree in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from MSU. During his professional career, Daniel has developed a wealth of experience in student development, admissions, alumni relations, and international fundraising.

Eun Ja Yu

Director of Int'l Alumni Engagement and Communications
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

Eun Ja Yu is the Director of International Alumni Engagement & Communications at the University of Michigan. She collaborates with colleagues and University of Michigan’s 19 schools, colleges and units to plan, manage and coordinate all aspects of the University's international alumni relations and alumni communications efforts. She is the primary representative of the Alumni Association of U-M outside the United States. She contributes to the growth of U-M’s international alumni engagement and fundraising program building strong relationships in Greater China, India, and Europe, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, among other countries. She has been at the university for 16 years and before this role, she was an Associate Director of the Full-Time MBA Admissions at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at U-M. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Psychology.
