Adam Chen serves as Program Director of Counseling and Student Services in the Language and Culture Center (LCC) at the University of Houston. Having emigrated from China, Adam received his B.A. in German Studies. He received his M.A. in Linguistics and M.Ed. in College Student Personnel from Ohio University. He has worked at various offices serving international students in a university setting, including admissions and international student services. He oversees a full range of advising, counseling, and student services for LCC students including immigration requirements and procedures, academic advising, intercultural adjustment, and personal and career counseling.

Kerry Gonzales is the Assistant Director of the Office of International Programs at Whittier College where she is responsible for International Student Services and Faculty-Led programs. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Buffalo. Kerry’s career began with high school study abroad experiences in Belgium and Portugal. She has worked as an International Student Advisor at colleges in the Boston and Los Angeles areas and was the Executive Director a high school exchange program. She is currently a member of the Region XII Southern California District Team and Trainer Corps.

Elena was born and raised in Russia where she received a B.A./M.A. in Foreign Language and Literature (English) and taught English as a Second Language. She first came to the U.S. in 1993 as a J-1 exchange student and then in 1995 as an F-1 international student. She holds an M.S. in Information Science from Indiana University. Elena started her career in the field of international education at the end of 2003 at Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as an International Student Advisor and then Assistant Director of the International Services Office. She later worked as an International Student and Scholar Advisor at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and at Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts, as an Associate Director of the Global Services Office, advising both F-1 and J-1 students and scholars.She currently works as an Associate Director for Foreign Student and Scholar Services at the Office of International Education at Carnegie Mellon University.
