Santa Monica College
Denise Kinsella is the Associate Dean for International Education at Santa Monica College, a public community college with more than 3,200 F1 students from more than 100 countries. She has worked in international education since 1986. Kinsella is part of the NAFSA Trainer Corps and has presented at NAFSA Region XII and NAFSA National conferences. She supervises the admissions, student support and immigration advising staffs. She meets directly with the most complex and challenging student cases. She has her MA in Intercultural Administration with an emphasis in Foreign Student Advising from the School for International Training (SIT) in Vermont.
California State University Fullerton-International Programs & Global Engagement
Jean Hotta is Assistant Director at International Students & Scholars office at California State University Fullerton (CSUF). CSUF is a public state university with an international student population of over 3000 (F-1 and J-1 exchange students). In addition to advising international students, she also coordinates institutional compliance with US Department of Homeland Security, international student orientation program and activities, and serves as advisor to CSUF’s International Student Association. Jean has spent more than 20 years serving international students. She has served as a lead trainer and co-trainer for both NAFSA’s F-1 Student Advising for Beginners and F-1 Intermediate Advising workshops.

I received my Bachelor's degree in International Affairs with a focus in Third World Politics from Xavier University (OH). Following undergrad, I completed a M.A. in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University and focused on International Education as a graduate assistant in the Office of International Education. Professional areas of interest include service-learning and social justice issues, access of international experiences for first-generation and under-represented groups, and foreign policy.
Portland State University
Joshua Davis is Assistant Director of International Student & Scholar Services at Portland State University. He has worked at PSU since August 2004, and began advising international students in March 2008. He has been involved with NAFSA at the Regional level for several years and has held roles on the leadership team including Secretary, Treasurer, and the Chairstream. He is a NAFSA Academy graduate and a member of Trainer Corps. He started in international education as a work-study student at Pacific University, where he majored in German and Philosophy. He was a Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant in Germany in 2002-2003.
