Topics covered include issuing I-20s, maintaining status, employment, practical training, travel and reentry, and program extensions. SEVIS is discussed in relation to international student advising practices and procedures.

Michelle Massey currently serves as PDSO and Associate Director for International Student andScholar Services at UMBC. She has been at UMBC for over 12 years, and leads UMBC's efforts in caring for about 800 current F-1 students as well as providing F-1 immigration expertise to her campus. She also works with H-1b and J-1 individuals at UMBC.
Michelle has presented numerous sessions at NAFSA regional and national conferences, with a range of topics including the value of incorporating fun into orientation programs for improved learning; best practices in communication; resources for tough immigration issues; STEM OPT and CPT best practices. She was inducted into NAFSA's Trainer Corps in May 2016, as has taught the F-1 Beginner and Intermediate workshops. She is currently serving as a Regulatory Ombudsman for NAFSA Region VIII.
Michelle earned her MA in Intercultural Communications from UMBC.

Vivian Yamoah is the Associate Director of the International Student and Scholar Office at Towson University. She has been in the field of international education for over 10 years. Since graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, she has worked in international education at the middle school, high school and university level with US and international students. She has a Master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Communication and International Management from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. She has worked at both private and public colleges and universities. She is a member of the NAFSA Trainer Corps. Her area of expertise includes student and scholar immigration advising, international student academic advising and international student career advising.

Kelly McCullen credits NAFSA with providing many opportunities for professional development in the field of International Education. She has served as a member of NAFSA Trainer Corp since 2012.
Kelly transitioned from a small private high school in urban Los Angeles to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) in 2002 where she began as an Academic Advisor in the College of Business. In 2007, Kelly moved to the International Center as an International Student Advisor and began coordinating Student and Scholars Services in the International Center in 2010. There, she oversees daily operations serving F and J students and scholars. She implemented the SEVIS/PeopleSoft Batch process and recently successfully moved the office to a paperless business process. She served as the PDSO and RO until recently.
Kelly holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Master’s degree in Public Administration.
