Landscape Conservation Planning Program Manager

Ron Unger is environmental program manager of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Landscape Conservation Planning Program (LCPP) in the Habitat Conservation Planning Branch. The LCPP team provides guidance and consistency to CDFW’s seven regional offices for the following programs: Natural Community Conservation Plans, Conservation Banks, Advance Mitigation, Conservation Land Acquisitions and California's newest conservation program, the Regional Conservation Investment Strategy Program. Ron worked on planning and implementing resource conservation and land management plans, restoration projects, and multi-benefit land use plans for 25 years in the public and private sectors. He likes to understand and engage people of diverse backgrounds, values, and expertise in finding solutions to complex ecological challenges. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a master’s degree in ecology from the University of California at Davis.
