Research and Education Informationist/ Assistant Professor

Ayaba Logan is a Research and Education Informationist at the Medical University of South Carolina and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Library Science and Informatics (DLSI), the College of Nursing (CON) and the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) in the College of Medicine (COM). As a Research and Education Informationist, she is the Library Liaison to nursing graduate programs (MSN/DNP/DNAP/PhD) in College of Nursing, and the College of Health Professions (CHP), graduate programs (MPH/PhD) in the DPHS, and undergraduate programs in CHP. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Public Health from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and her Master of Library and Information Studies from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.
For the College of Nursing, Mrs. Logan co-teaches NRPHD 750: Ph.D. Toolbox I: Systematic Searches in the Ph.D. program and provides Evidence Based Nursing Instruction in NRDNP858: Evidence Based Nursing and Safety in the MSN/DNP program. As well as provides instruction during all graduate program learning intensives and orientations.
As a researcher, Ayaba’s methodology includes conducting systematic and other reviews, citation analysis, and qualitative research and is very interested in open access/data sharing, library instruction, evaluation/assessment, health disparities, reproducible research, religion and health, health systems, decision-making, CAM/TAM, and evidence-based Librarianship. She presents nationally and internationally and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
Mrs. Logan is on the editorial boards of Journal of Medical Library Association, and the Hypothesis. She holds leadership positions at a national and regional level in several major Library organizations.
