When BMD is very low, the intervertebral space may not map well, resulting in deep invaginations in the bone map in the L2-3 and L3-4 space in the prior image on the right. As BMD improved with treatment, these intervertebral spaces became included in the bone map in the current image on the left. This increase in BMC will result in a rise in a lesser increase in BMD because of the concurrent increase in Bone Area.
