The evolution of technologies, as well as convergence with various components and industrial equipments, has brought many opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency for the Industries. However, the same advancements have created new cybersecurity risks, which can impact the operational continuity, the safety of the employees and the image of the companies. This presentation covers all aspects to establish an ICS cybersecurity management program and details a strategy for its development by adapting best practices and frameworks, from conception through design and implementation, based on the Vale case, which involves one of the biggest mining companies in the world.

Cesar Oliveira is responsible for the Cybersecurity strategy at Vale responsible to develop and maintain the global cybersecurity strategy and roadmap in a multi-year implementation and transformation program based on business priorities and risks tasked with driving growth of the security practice globally. He has broad experience in information technology during the past 21 years, especially in Information Security and IT governance for mining, oil and gas industries. He is graduated in Computer Systems Analysis at PUC-Rio and has an MBA with a focus in Total Quality Management from UFF. Member of the MIT Interdisciplinary Consortium for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity and member of IoT Security Workgroup of the IoT Brazilian Association. Main certifications are CISM and ITIL Expert.
