When Implementing security with a development team, we often run into challenges. We discuss the hidden challenges that are truly sideline security, or at least cause security procrastination. When sitting with dev teams as a fly on the wall, we discovered several unknown factors we needed to learn from.

Among lessons learned from asking the following:

  • How should security engage with teams?
  • What is the situation with the dev teams, and how do I work security around that?
  • What does the DevOps model mean to teams and how does security need to adapt?
  • What is needed for perceived invisibility of a security process?
  • When teams start with Ooooops, how do they get to secure DevOps?

    • Demonstrate that when done right, security can fit into DevOps.
    • Conduct research with attendees'own dev teams to understand their next steps using these learnings.

    Senior Security Architect

    Glenn Leifheit is a senior security engineering program manager within the Microsoft Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) organization, where he currently leads large cross-company security initiatives. Glenn has more than 22 years of experience in technology for software, financial and healthcare industries. Prior to his current role, Glenn worked at FICO and was responsible for the buildout of FICO’s application security and PCI programs. Glenn's experience covers providing C-level security guidance; acting as a cross-team business security liaison; driving static code analysis across the enterprise; leading application security and PCI programs; and the architecture and design of large-scale applications and associated infrastructure.
