6315 - How to Survive Working in Security as a Woman

Wednesday, September 27
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

This panel is intended to assist women in security/technology in overcoming some of the obstacles they face each day. We'll discuss things like:

  • Recognizing biases (unconscientious or not)
  • Balancing home and work (can it be done?)
  • Owning your accomplishments
  • Mentors and sponsors (how to find both and what is the difference)

We will also answer questions from the audience on ways to improve some of the hurdles faced by women in the industry. We do not intend to delve into why women are not entering the field of information security, but the discussion might assist in allaying some of their concerns.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Identify both conscious and unconscious biases.
    • Understand how to deal with work and home life constraints.
    • How to own and promote successes.
