3504.3 - Developing the GEO Client Chilean application for Disasters within the Sendai Framework on disasters risk reduction

This paper present the first version of the GEO Client application for disasters desktop and mobile users developed by an international team and the GEO Chile working group in 2015, within the Sendai Framework of Disaster Risk Reduction. References to the second versioning of the application, architecture and design of 2016 are also provided. The application is based on a GEO client proposed by the ConnectGEO in Europe, the Florence Division of the Centro Nazionale di Ricerca - Istituto dell'Inquinamento Atmosferico (C.N.R.-I.I.A.), and that consider the client application connected to the geoportal server application. The GEO Client application regards seven testing regions, respectively: Villarrica, Copahue and Calbuco interested by a high risk of volcanic eruptions; Iquique, Illapel and Talcahuano with a high earthquake and tsunami risk, and Valparaiso, with a high risk of wild fires. Every one of this area is urbanized or mostly urbanized , and thousands of inhabitants have been evacuated and/or negatively impacted.
The objective of this work regards the question of what is the GEO Chilean Client application, how it relates to the Sendai framework for risk reductions; what can do now and in the future.
Within the Sendai Framework and a service oriented architecture (SOA) is presented. Data, metadata, and services are made available to be searched and discovered through standardized interfaces. We have therefore a service side, called a Providers side, and GEO Users Client side. Here, we'll be discussing a first version of the GEO User Client application of Chile.
