Laurence S. Sperling, M.D., FACC, FAHA, FACP is the Founder and Director of The Heart Disease Prevention Center at Emory. He is currently Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the Emory University School of Medicine and Professor of Global Health in the Hubert Department of Global Health in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. Dr. Sperling served as the President of The American Society for Preventive Cardiology from 2014-2016, and currently serves on the writing committee of the ACC/ AHA Guideline on the Management on Blood Cholesterol. He founded (in 2004) and directs the first and only LDL apheresis program in the state of Georgia. He is co-editor of the American College of Cardiology’s Diabetes Self Assessment Program, and currently serves as Co-Chairman of the American College of Cardiology’s Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Working group, in addition to Chairman of the National Cardiometabolic Alliance. He also serves on the ACC’s Population Health Policy and Health Promotions committee, as well as the research and publications committee of the National Diabetes Collaborative Registry. He is the Director of the ESCAPE CV Prevention meeting.

Robert A. Vogel

Robert Vogel, M.D. is a preventive cardiologist at the University of Colorado Denver, where he is a Clinical Professor of Medicine. He received his B.A. from Columbia University (physics) and M.D. from Yale University. He served on the faculties of the Universities of Colorado, Michigan, and Maryland. Dr. Vogel has investigated heart disease for more than 40 years, pioneering tomographic myocardial perfusion imaging and quantitative coronary arteriography, and discovering the acute vascular effects of food, physical activity, and media. He is the author of two books and more than 250 scientific publications. He was Director of Cardiology at the University of Maryland for 14 years and served as the President of the Association of University Cardiologists. Dr. Vogel serves as a consultant to the Pritikin Longevity Institute and a member of the NFL Medical Committee . Currently, he serves as President of the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association.
