He was President of the Society of Thoeacic Surgeons in 2004, having been Treasurer and serving on the Board for 9 years. He is currently Treasurer of the American College of Cardiology and has been on the Board of Trustees of that organization for 7 years.

A pioneer in interventional cardiology, he trained 150+ invasive/interventional cardiology fellows & conducted the 1st NHLBI trial of coronary angioplasty vs bypass surgery. He served as President, American College of Cardiology (1998-1999), and has authored 500+ papers & edited/co-edited 10 books including Interventional Cardiology and Hurst’s The Heart 9th-13th Eds.

Dr Justin Davies is a leading clinical academic and interventional cardiologist at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London. He has pioneered the development of several new clinical techniques from bench top to the clinical catheter laboratory. The holder of 16 patents, he has published widely in hypertension, coronary and large artery physiology and is the winner of many national and international awards. Justin is the developer of iFR, and co-PI of the ADVISE, DEFINE-FLAIR, and ORBITA. Justin is a leader in renal denervation, with first-in-man studies to evaluate the safety of this technique to patients with chronic heart failure (REACH).

Dr. Patel is cardiology section leader in Interventional Cardiology and Director of Cardiac Cath Labs for the Duke University Health System. His interests included peripheral and percutaneous intervention, and he is involved in several trials involving patients with vascular disease. He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology Task Force for Appropriate use of Cardiovascular Procedures and is Chair of the American Heart Association Diagnostic and Interventional Cath Committee.

Dr. Samady trained in general cardiology, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology at Yale University School of Medicine from 1994 to 1999. He was Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Virginia from 1999-2003 and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School from 2003-2005. He joined the Division of Cardiology at Emory University in 2005. In 2009, he became Professor of Medicine and in 2011, Director of Interventional Cardiology at Emory University and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory of EUH. He has supervised and participated in the training of over 60 interventional cardiology fellows and over 100 general cardiology fellows.
