Dr. Steven F. Bolling is a Professor of Surgery in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Michigan. Both his undergraduate and medical school education were at the University of Michigan. Following this, he trained in general and thoracic surgery at Johns Hopkins.

He joined the Cardiac Surgery faculty at the University of Michigan in the mid-1980s and helped create and direct the multi-disciplinary mitral valve clinic. He is an active participant in all the major cardiac surgical societies and a recognized expert in mitral valve surgery. He is the author of over 350 peer-reviewed publications and holds numerous grants, including NIH, AHA, and industry grants.

He is the Director of the Myocellular Biology Laboratory. His research is in the molecular biology of heart failure, with a special interest in myocyte signal transduction. He is also the Director of the Multidisciplinary Mitral Valve Clinic.
