SAT-A01 - Inside the LA Studio with Hocker Design Group

Saturday, October 21
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

1.5 PDH, LA CES/non-HSW, AIA/non-HSW, AICP, FL

David Hocker ventured into business in late 2004 with a clear vision—beautiful articulation of the “spaces between” that exude meaningful connection to region and place for the people who inhabit them. In 13 short years Hocker Design Group (HDG) has grown into a focused design firm with a succinct point of view that responds to architecture, site ecology, and geographic features with appropriately scaled designs of exhibited restraint. A commitment to provide responsible and innovative solutions has earned the small firm 30-plus design awards and accolades in national and international publications.

Learning Objectives:

David Hocker

Hocker Design Group

David Hocker, ASLA, is a Dallas native with a vast knowledge of landscape architecture and horticulture, developed through early time spent at the family farm and his summer landscape construction and maintenance business. His curiosity into how things are designed and construction, even deconstruction, grew through 2 semesters and many follow-up visits to Italy. He launched HDG in 2004, approaching each project with a strong, hands-on methodology that results in a unique level of commitment and success in each project. As Design Principal, he extracts influence from contextual architecture and other elements to create outdoor spaces offering clear organization and aesthetic.
