The new administration in Washington has called for a huge increase in spending on transportation including roads, rails, and airports. Strategies for delivering these projects places an emphasis on the design/build methodology. How can landscape architects grab a piece of these upcoming projects?
Tatsumi and Partners, Inc.
Mr. Tatsumi has a wide range of experiences in the transportation-related landscape architectural field spanning over 34 years. His project experience includes serving as the project Visual Quality Manager for multi-million dollar Design-Build projects, insuring the aesthetic designs for structures and landscaping are properly incorporated and implemented. He has worked on seven of the largest Design-Build projects in Southern California. He is currently working on the Design-Build projects at I-15/I-215 Interchange in Devore, and the SR-91 Improvements in Corona which has a budget of approximately $16 million for aesthetic treatments of structures and landscaping.
Principal Landscape Architect
Jeff Lormand, RLA, ASLA is a Principal Landscape Architect with Parsons Corporation with more than 30 years of experience involving transportation and urban design projects. Jeff has extensive understanding of the principles of landscape architecture as they apply to transportation-related projects and has developed aesthetic treatments and guidelines for numerous high-profile highway and transit projects. He currently serves as Aesthetics Manager for a number of high profile/large scale Design-Build highway projects in the Los Angeles area – including the recently completed State Route 91 in Riverside County and Interstate 405 in Orange County, which is currently beginning construction.
Pacific Restoration Group, Inc.
DANNY RICHARDS, RLA, is Vice President of Pacific Restoration Group, Inc. (PRG) in southern California. As co-owner, Mr. Richards holds a construction license (C-27), landscape architect certificate (RLA), pesticide license (QAL), and qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) certificate. His 28 years of experience in landscape architecture and construction has proven beneficial during estimating, design review, to final installation on Design-Build projects. He has worked on the Toll Roads 241/133/261, SR-22 in Orange County, I-15/I-215 Interchange in San Bernardino County, SR-91 Improvements in Corona/Riverside County, and SR-805 in San Diego County for a combined budget of $40 million.
