Co-lead XL: Experiments in Landscape and Urbanism
Anya Domlesky is a designer at SWA Group who co-leads XL: Experiments in Landscape and Urbanism, SWA's innovation lab. Anya focuses on regional and environmental planning and landscape-driven urban design. She has worked largely on coastal issues, water, and urbanization—in Belgrade, the Bay Area, Haiti, Louisiana, the Great Lakes, Siberia, South Florida, and New York City and taught at Harvard Graduate School of Design and Boston Architectural College. Recently her work was shown at the 2016 Venice Biennale. Anya holds a MLA from Harvard GSD, a M.Arch II from McGill University, and a B.A. from Smith College.
Foresight + Research + Innovation
Francesca Birks leads Foresight + Research + Innovation for Arup Americas. She plans and facilitates strategic design engagement processes and visioning workshops for several of Arup’s businesses and external clients. She is the editor-in-chief of Arup's first digital magazine in the Americas, Doggerel, focused on design and innovation in the built environment. Francesca is particularly interested in design strategy, innovation management, strategic ventures, human-centered design, design thinking and in engaging public stakeholders in collaborative design processes to improve the outcomes.
