Case studies will highlight emerging methods and technology for data collection, analysis, and incorporating performance metrics to evaluate a project’s success in achieving its sustainability goals.
Justin Winters is a principal at SWA/Balsley with 15 years of experience working both domestically and internationally on a range of project types, including urban design, workplace environments, university campus design, and park master plans. As a project manager leading teams on complex, high-performance developments, Justin has an established track record of working with clients, consultants, and contractors to achieve world-class projects. Understanding the critical role that research and technology play in quality landscape design, Justin has led SWA’s Post-Occupancy Analysis program to develop rigor in design methods through the systematic review of past work.

john Leys has degrees in Environmental Studies and Civil Engineering from the University of California and has worked in the offices of planners, architects, a d landscape architects as a civil engineer. M r. Leys is a Professional Engineer an d a LEED Accredited Professional whose experience includes green building design, urban public spaces, water feature design, integrated stormwater management, infrastructure design, and development of green design tools. John currently serves as Managing Principal of Sherwood Design Engineer’s San Francisco office where he directly oversees and manages a number of Sherwood’s high profile national and international projects.

John Williams, RLA is CEO of Impact Infrastructure, Inc., a Software as a Service Company and provider of infrastructure and building performance data including financial/economic, social and environmental returns on investment. He is the originator of the Sustainable Return On Investment (SROI) framework; multiple business case evaluation tools; and Autocase, an automated Cost-Benefit/LCCA/SROI Analysis tool. He is on faculty at Columbia University, is Chairman Elect for the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and serves on Ceres' Presidents Council. Mr. Williams is a Landscape Architect with 38 years of experience and an ASLA Certificate of Honor winner.
