WS-002 - Workshop: The LARE Experience: What to Expect and How to Prepare

This workshop will provide an introduction to the licensure process, share basic information on the LARE exam content and format, and explore study strategies. It will feature a panel discussion with practitioners who have recently passed the exam who will share the secrets to their success.


$50 per person by 6/30; $75 by 9/15; $100 after 9/15

Gail Ferry, PLA, ASLA is a landscape architect and planner at Halff Associates, Inc. She is a licensed landscape architect in the state of Texas with over seven years of experience on municipal, commercial, institutional, and residential projects. Gail has served on the ASLA LARE Prep Committee since 2011 and is currently the chair. She successfully completed the LARE in Pennsylvania in 2013. She has previously conducted ASLA LARE Prep webinars and provided preparation assistance to numerous candidates since obtaining her licensure.

Stephen M. Feccia

Landscape Architect
Kimley-Horn

Stephen is a licensed landscape architect in West Palm Beach, Florida working with Kimley-Horn and Associates, a private consulting firm and is currently serving on the ASLA LARE Prep Committee. Primarily he specializes in land development type projects in both the public and private sector markets. His work encompasses planting, hardscape, and irrigation design, in addition to conceptual site planning, budget planning, and municipal permitting. He received of his professional certification from the State of Florida in June 2016, passing Sections 1-4 of the LARE and the Florida Section on the first try.

Thomas J. Nieman

Professor of Landscape Architecture, Emeritus
University of Kentucky

Thomas J. Nieman, PhD, FASLA, is a Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture at the University of Kentucky. He is a licensed landscape architect, president of the Kentucky Landscape Architecture Licensure Board, and past CLARB board member. In addition, he has taught LARE review sessions at the ASLA Annual Meeting for the past 13 years, LABash, and numerous states and Puerto Rico. He serves on the ASLA LARE Prep Committee.
