Arguably the most successful legacy park, Centennial Olympic Park matured from a gathering place for the 1996 Olympic Games to a community living room for a city of five million. This session explores the economic impact the park has had on downtown Atlanta and how it is being redesigned to accommodate future demands.

Todd Hill, Partner/VP - Director of Atlanta Office of DTJ DESIGN, is an award-winning landscape architect formerly with EDAW (now AECOM) since 1986. An original team member who designed Centennial Olympic Park leading up to the 1996 Games. Todd now leads the $25M renovation of COP which includes five major projects. His creative design process combines innovative sustainability strategies with high design, toward seamless implementation. His global portfolio includes signature parks, destination resorts, new town planning, and urban regeneration projects. Mr. Hill works from Canada to Mexico, The Caribbean and South America; from Europe to Asia and China.

Dennis Carmichael

Dennis Carmichael is a landscape architect with over 40 years of award-winning design work for urban parks and places. He was with EDAW for thirty years and in that role was the lead designer for Centennial Olympic Park. His work embraces landscape narrative and is infused with the unique stories of each place in which he works. He has been published in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, and Urban Land magazines. In 2006, he served as president of ASLA. In 2009, he served as president of LAF.

Adam J. Straight – Senior Director of Project and Program Management at The Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Adam brings seventeen years of experience that leads a team responsible for all Capital Projects and Master Planning on the Georgia World Congress Center Authority’s campus. He also serves as the Owners Representative for the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium project. Adam is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
