Our world is increasingly interconnected and interdependent. How can the scope, depth, and power of landscape be enhanced or diminished through the lens of multidisciplinary practice? This panel will explore different ways landscape principals at multidisciplinary design studios have found that daily interstudio collaboration both enhances and challenges their practice.
Senior Urban Designer/Landscape Architect
BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group)
Simon David, ASLA, is Senior Urban Designer/Landscape Architect at BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), where he is Project Leader for the BIG U, phase 1, a 2.5 mile coastal resiliency project for Lower Manhattan. Simon’s combined 12 years experience includes practice in landscape architecture, urbanism and architecture, with a focus on sustainable and social infrastructure. Prior to joining BIG, Simon was Senior Project Manager at MVVA. His work has encompassed a wide range of scales, disciplines, and regions, and have been recognized with numerous awards.
Caroline is a thinker, collaborator, and leader, who teams with architects, planners, urban designers, and civil engineers to both market and implement work. Her experience spans from planning to built work, with a particular focus on integrated campus contexts. She brings to each project—as well as myriad corporate initiatives—strong critical thinking, a willingness to engage in thoughtful debate, and a commitment to quality.
Caroline provides critical thought and design leadership to Sasaki's Campus Studio landscape and planning practice, and is helping to strengthen, restore, and expand Sasaki's national presence as a campus planning and design leader.

Fascinated by the urban environment and its influence on people’s lives, Michelle Delk is a Partner and Discipline Director of Landscape Architecture for Snøhetta in New York City. She cultivates trans-disciplinary design characterized by clear thinking and collaborative principles. Her commitment to leadership includes board memberships and frequent invitations as instructor, lecturer, juror, and advisor for various universities, organizations and communities. Ranging from master plans for campuses and urban brownfield redevelopments to realizations of urban plazas, parks, streetscapes, and riverfronts; guiding diverse projects, with extensive community and client engagement, is a natural fit for Michelle.

Samantha Harris is a principal at Rios Clementi Hale Studios, where she has been a central figure in the growth of the firm’s landscape studio. She expertly traverses all scales of design from regional master planning to product and graphic design. This success can be seen in many of the firm’s internationally acclaimed commissions, of which she has been a driving force. Her training in art, ecology and botany is reflected in artful, environmentally sustainable solutions that meet the needs of complex groups of stakeholders and has made her sought after to helm projects from concept to construction.
