Built on the site of the former Hughes Aircraft factory, the urban infill community of Playa Vista is the epicenter of “Silicon Beach”—a burgeoning creativity/technology hub. Experience diverse open spaces in the master-planned community and learn how aggressive sustainability goals and design commitment drew both industry and residents.

$150 per person; includes transportation, bottled water, and boxed lunch. Extensive walking.

Rios Clementi Hale Studios

Brent specializes in bringing sustainable solutions like green roofs, green walls, and rainwater harvesting to urban sites. Much of his work for Rios Clementi Hale Studios has been in the public realm, be it a civic park, a courthouse landscape, or a programmable retail plaza. He has also designed for private sector projects, and is able to switch between different types such as religious institutions, retail developments, or office complexes, with ease. An active member of the ASLA, Brent has served on the National Emerging Professionals Committee and on the Committee on Education.

Dillon Diers

Principal
OJB Landscape Architecture

Dillon’s design leadership and management spans a wide range of corporate, academic, and urban design projects. He has devoted his passion to the design of timeless gardens and creation of meaningful spaces with innovative and precise detailing. His knowledge and admiration for plants and construction methods has been an integral role within the firm and in his work at the Sunnylands Center & Gardens. He is currently leading a series of important new workplace environments that are groundbreaking in their approach to site design. His work has received numerous national and regional Honor Awards from ASLA, AIA, and ULI.

Naseema Asif

Architect, Senior Associate
Rios Clementi Hale Studios

Naseema is a Senior Associate at Rios Clementi Hale Studios, where she has been the Project Architect on commercial and institutional projects ranging from a community center in Playa Vista to the transformation of a 1980s office park into creative office space. These projects track an ongoing exploration into the integration of tools from architecture and landscape architecture to shape spaces that respond to the unique relationship between a proposed program and the site’s environment.

Greg Kochanowski

Principal
Rios Clementi Hale Studios

Greg is a Principal with Rios Clementi Hale Studios, and seeks to combine the techniques and strategies of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design to create unique, forward thinking environments that build upon and enhance the specific qualities of a place.
He was a recipient of the Young Architects Forum Award from the Architectural League of New York, and has received national and regional awards from both the AIA and ASLA. Greg is currently a Senior Faculty member at Otis College of Art and Design, and holds a Master of Architecture from UCLA, and B.S. in Architecture from Temple University.

Jennifer Zell

Associate
AHBE Landscape Architects

Jennifer Zell’s fifteen years of experience includes a wide range of project types and scales including planning and design of public, commercial and private landscapes. Her experience includes national and state chapter ASLA award winning projects. Jennifer’s interests are in community outreach and the integration of natural process and cultural systems. She has been an adjunct lecturer and studio instructor at Cal Poly Pomona and her writings have been published in Landscape Architecture Magazine and Urban Land.
