Survey thriving urban design within Downtown Los Angeles, analyzing scale, materials, and responsible approaches to providing protected environments for active and passive recreation. Explore Wilshire Grand, City National Plaza, and Maguire Gardens, and navigate the streetscapes that stitch the fabric of this neighborhood, this city, together.

$85 per person; includes, bottled water. Extensive walking.

Tony Lopez, Associate at Relm, has over 11 years of experience working on projects with attention to showcasing the personality and culture of the City of Los Angeles. Understanding Downtown Los Angeles is evolving every day from a city into a neighborhood, Tony has approached public, private and mixed-use projects within the city as opportunities to demonstrate the ability of landscape architecture to transform perceptions of urban living, embracing the history and context of communities. He was Project Designer for Wilshire Grand and Metropolis and was Project Landscape Designer for the Broadway Streetscape Master Plan.

Darren Shirai has been practicing landscape architecture for over twenty years, with experience on a range of project types throughout Southern California and internationally. His award-winning designs integrate a unique multi–disciplinary point of view that provides consideration for each community’s social, cultural, and economic factors. Having led the design of numerous projects, he has developed the critical observation and decision-making skills necessary for delivering environmentally-sensitive solutions for urban projects of all sizes and scope of work.

Eric is devoted to excellence in design, environmental practices, and improved livability. Enthusiastic about sustainability and conservation, he continues to provide leadership in applying sustainable principles to all projects
