Barry Padolsky, B. Arch., M. Sc. (Urban Design), O.A.A., F.R.A.I.C., C.A.P.H.C., R.C.A.

Barry Padolsky is an Ottawa-based architect, urban designer, and heritage consultant. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Manitoba (1961) and his Masters degree in Social Science (Urban Design) at the University of Edinburgh (1969).

Barry founded Barry Padolsky Associates Inc., Architects in 1969. His firm's achievements, with partner Louise McGugan include over 160 architectural projects, including new libraries, schools, social housing, commercial buildings, bridges, neighbourhood plans, and 50 heritage restoration projects.

He lead the consulting for the renovations of the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa in joint venture with Kuwabara, Payne, McKenna, Blumberg Architects and Gagnon Letellier Cyr Architectes.

His firm has received over 30 national, provincial, and municipal design awards, including the Massey Medal, and Governor’s General Award for Residential Design.

Barry was set designer for Turandot (Odyssey Theatre) in 1995 and 7 Important Things (NAC English Theatre/STO Union co-production) in 2007.

Barry is a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2006. He plays tennis.
