The Living Desert 47900 Portola Ave, Palm Desert, CA 92260 $23.00 per person
The APM 2017 Local Arrangements Subcommittee has coordinated another unforgettable half-day event for both registrants and their guests.
For four decades, The Living Desert has engaged in the important work of conserving the desert and all its varied plant and animal life. APM’s Private Safari tour includes all-day admission to the Living Desert, our own personal guide, and private shuttle for two hours. We will make stops at all their major exhibits, such as giraffes, jaguars, zebras, and cheetahs, plus many more. Our guide will hop on-and-off with us to provide information about the history of the park, the animal exhibits, and botanical gardens. We will have a walkthrough of the Tennity Wildlife Hospital, where we will learn more about the Living Desert’s conservation efforts, rehabilitation programs, and how they care for all of the animals. Lastly, we will have an exclusive viewing of their amur leopard, from the District Commissioner’s House, which is not open to generally admitted guests.
The Living Desert recommends the following when visiting:
Closed toed shoes (not required)
Bottled water (you can purchase drinks, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, at any of their restaurants)
Our tour begins at 2:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 AM on Saturday, but you are welcome to enjoy your all-day admission.
TRANSPORTATION: The Academy is providing complimentary shuttle service from the La Quinta Resort. First-come, first-serve. Otherwise, transportation is own your own.
Friday shuttle: 1:30 PM departure from main lobby; 4:45 PM pickup near the Living Desert's gift shop
