3006 - Are You Ready for a Measles Outbreak?

Friday, June 16
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Location: Oregon Convention Center, E 147-148

Minnesota is in the midst of a measles outbreak, with over 75 cases reported as of this week. In seven weeks, the state has exceeded the total number of measles cases (70) reported in the United States in 2016. This session will discuss the current situation, how community conditions made such an outbreak inevitable, process and protocols developed to prevent transmission and identify cases, and how collaboration and communication are vital in an outbreak situation. The panel will address issues including visitor restrictions, post exposure prophylaxis, and open up the end of the session for an opportunity to ask IPs on the front line of an outbreak any question about measles.
