2403 - Details on NHSN’s Updated Healthcare-Associated Infection Risk Adjustment Models

Wednesday, June 14
3:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Location: Oregon Convention Center, Oregon Ballroom 201

This presentation is intended for infection preventionists, healthcare epidemiologists, quality improvement staff, and others in the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) community who wish to gain a detailed understanding of the new risk adjustment models (i.e., the “rebaseline”) used in the calculation of standardized infection ratios (SIRs) for central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs), catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), surgical site infections (SSIs), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia, and Clostridium difficile events. This session will assume the audience has a basic understanding of the SIR metric, and will focus only on the risk adjustment models as they apply to acute care and critical access hospitals.
