Concurrent Education Session - 60 minutes

2504 - Publishing Your Data: Conception to Publication

Thursday, June 15
3:45 PM - 4:45 PM
Location: Oregon Convention Center, B 115-116

A discipline such as infection prevention and control is dependent upon valid and reliable information on which to base practice and decision making. Hence, the dissemination of information and new knowledge is an earmark and necessity for professionals in the field. Nevertheless, writing for publication is generally daunting for new and experienced individuals and can be a barrier to progress in the field. In this session, an experienced author and the editor of AJIC will discuss the process of publication from each of their perspectives and experience. Examples of types of articles and relevant topics for publication will be described as well as the major components of scientific publication and writing and the expectations/guidelines of professional journals. Lively discussion and question and answer session from the audience will be encouraged.
