3205 - Making Meetings Productive: Tools for Consensus Building

Friday, June 16
9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Location: Oregon Convention Center, A 105-106

Have you ever attended or conducted meetings that felt like "Groundhog’s Day," where the same territory is covered repeatedly but no progress is made toward the goal? With limited resources and ever-increasing demands, none of us in healthcare has time to waste. Consensus building is a critical strategy leading to goal achievement. The ability to reach consensus in interdisciplinary groups is imperative if widespread agreement is to be achieved. This session will cover a variety of consensus-building tools such as the Delphi method, Six Thinking Hats, the Quaker method, and the Consensus-Oriented Decision-Making model, which infection preventionists can employ to manage successful meetings that lead to improved patient safety.
