3001 - Construction Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Leadership

Friday, June 16
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Location: Oregon Convention Center, E 145-146

Have you wondered how you could better make the person or department responsible for construction projects at your facility involve infection prevention in the design process, or comply with the infection control risk mitigation measures? This presentation offers practical suggestions based on traditional infection prevention practices to better empower infection preventionists to influence infection control aspects of construction projects. You will learn about the specific published standards and regulations available to support your role in both the design and the construction phases of the project. You will learn ways to establish the responsibility for day-to-day infection control risk mitigation with the project managers. You will see examples of methods to conduct tracer rounds for construction projects and will be provided examples to communicate the results of these rounds with impact. In addition, we will discuss prioritization of infection prevention involvement in construction, and the role of the Plan, Do, Check, Act method.
