Trey Gordner is the founder and CEO of Koios, a library software startup that makes borrowing online as easy as buying.
When I was in college, I worked in special collections. We had millions of fascinating materials, but few weekly visitors. I studied business, so I recognized that our library had a marketing problem. But at the time I felt there was little I could do. I graduated and took a job at an advertising technology startup.
Working first in sales and then in product management, I studied the playbook of digital marketing and the process of building a product. When a local library offered me a consulting opportunity to help them attract new users, I was ready. Koios software empowers libraries to reach users where they already are: Google, Amazon, and Wikipedia. I started this business because I believe that by enabling libraries to succeed online, we help people free themselves from the swamp of clickbait, propaganda, and distraction they wade through every day. Together, we help them focus on information worthy of their attention.
