Ashley Horn is the Social Work Program Coordinator in the Outreach Services Department at the Brooklyn Public Library. She is the first library social worker in New York City, working full-time in partnership with Breaking Ground, New York City’s largest provider of supportive housing and advocate of homelessness solutions. She is working to create a social work program, providing outreach to patrons and support to staff in all 60 branches of the Brooklyn Public Library. Ashley has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has worked in the social work field for nearly 15 years in Tucson, Chicago, Western Massachusetts, and now Brooklyn. Ashley has worked with LGBTQ youth in the foster care system and adults experiencing homelessness, chronic mental health issues, and addiction. Ashley served on the Young Activist Council for CAASE (Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation) and the Voices of Illinois Children Board. She is dedicated, personally and professionally, to advocating for women and working towards social justice.
