Sharon Grover, recently retired as Head of Youth Services at the Hedberg Public Library in Janesville, WI, now serves
as a youth services and audiobook literacy consultant. She has spent over 25 years working in public libraries with
families and early childhood and K-12 educators on building literacy skills, especially through audiobooks. Sharon has
spoken and written extensively on using audiobooks in classroom situations, including as co-author of Listening to
Learn: Audiobooks Supporting Literacy (ALA Editions, 2011), as a contributor to School Library Journal's "ListenIn"
column on audiobooks, and as a reviewer and contributing editor for AudioFile Magazine.
Sharon will serve as panel moderator and will speak to the need for children and teens who see very little diversity in
their daily lives, to see and hear it in their books. Having served youth in homogeneous communities for half of her
career, Sharon has a good sense of how the "window" of literature introduces and demonstrates the wider world to
