Learn about best practices for providing access to unique collections which otherwise may be invisible to your library users. We will discuss our use of standards, discovery layers, facets, controlled vocabularies, and genre terms to meet users’ needs when cataloging a large collection of tabletop games. By the end of this session, you will be able to easily translate these methods to your own unique collections.
At the end of this program, attendees will...
1. Understand why unique collections must be cataloged if they are to be accessible to users
2. Understand how discovery layers in the catalog will enhance user access to unique collections
3. Understand how genre terms will enhance discovery of unique collections
This program is intended for librarians from academic libraries, public libraries and school libraries that have unique collections.
