In August 2015, the ALCTS CaMMS Competencies and Education for a Career in Cataloging Interest Group charged the Cataloging Competencies Task Force with producing the first draft of a core competencies document enumerating the skills and knowledge required for a career in cataloging for use by cataloging practitioners and educators. During the interest group’s meeting at ALA Midwinter, representatives from the task force will present a draft core competencies document for review and discussion, culminating in a conversation about next steps.
