Chicago Public Library
Kristen Edson is a Librarian II in the Business History and Sciences Division at the Harold Washington Library Center of the Chicago Public Library, where she has worked for nine years. She is a founding member of Chicago Public Library’s Game committee, which was created as part of a Human Centered Design planning project. One product of that committee was the library system’s initial participation in International Games Day, which Ms. Edson helped plan. In May 2016, she co-presented a talk on her work with Human Centered Design and the Gaming Committee at the Reaching Forward Conference organized for library support staff. She is one of the first Learning Circle Facilitators of the Peer-2-Peer University project. This program provides support to non-traditional adult learners. Ms. Edson’s work includes other programming planning, outreach initiatives and staff training.
For the past three years, Ms. Edson has served as the co-chair of the Library Instruction Round Table Transitions to College Committee. Her work on that committee includes initial planning for the Connecting Librarians for K-20 Transitions project and review for approval of social events at conferences to promote further connections among librarians of all types. Ms. Edson is a new member of the Gaming Round Table and serves on the International Game Day subcommittee.
