Pima County Public Library
Mary has extensive work with immigrant communities as a school home visitor, teacher of English as a Second Language and Spanish Language Arts, and, for the past 18 years, as a librarian. In her nine years with the Pima County Public Library, she was instrumental in coordinating a grant-funded project to provide computer instruction in several target languages, and helping to start the Library's "Welcome to America" committee, whcih is responsible for overseeing sytem-wide projects to serve the many immigrant communities in Pima County. As part of her work with this committee, Mary coordinates citizenship programming, works on collection development in Spanish and other languages, and does outreach. Her latest project is wrangling a comprehensive translation contract to provide ongong translation of library documents.
