Michael Bailou Huang is Coordinator of the Office of Global Library Initiatives and health sciences librarian at Stony Brook University Libraries. He is also an adjunct professor at Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai, China. His professional engagement has included the American Library Association, Medical Library Association, Chinese American Librarians Association, and IFLA (serving on the Standing Committee of Health and Biosciences Libraries Section). He possesses extensive experience and expertise in health sciences and international librarianship. He served as Secretariat General at four international library conferences, responsible for advertising, coordinating peer-review process, editing papers, answering registration questions, hosting participants from overseas, and serving as conference interpreter. He has published three conference proceedings as associate editor-in-chief and over two dozen articles in peer-reviewed publications. He has presented about 70 papers, workshops, lectures, and poster sessions at national and international conferences held in 12 countries including Austria, China, England, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Norway, Portugal, the United States, and at a variety of forums in universities in China. He was a recipient of the President’s Recognition Award from the Chinese American Librarians Association in 2013.
