As libraries create new services, like Maker Spaces, audio labs, digital media labs, GIS & Geospatial Services centers, they must integrate different job specialties into the organization. Coming from more technical cultures with differences in perspective, these new employees can pose challenges in communications, training in library systems and integrating new job classes into pay structures. Reconciling the new employees’ demands for autonomy, empowerment, future expectation and envisioned roles in the organization can be significant management issues.
