Poster Session

Cultural Communities Among African Students at Yale College

Wednesday, October 19
1:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Room: Ballroom A/B

Inspired by the prevalent negative perceptions of cultural communities, this study seeks to better understand the phenomenon of informal cultural communities formed by African students at U.S. universities. It looks at the factors that lead to the creation of cultural communities, the role that cultural communities serve, and the way that involvement in cultural communities shapes the student experience, as well as the implications for international educators.
