Hot Topics in Scholar Visa Advising

While the annual conference has in-depth sessions on PERM, O-1s, H-1Bs, etc., this session will be designed as an update for scholar advisers at the regional conference.  It will discuss the latest trends and tips for employment-based temporary visas and permanent residence, use case studies, and leave time for questions.  Sharon Ralston BU and Rajan Eapen UVM were not able to log in by the June 15 midnight deadline.  They will be presenters, and only one lawyer.

Megan Kludt is an attorney specializing in complex immigration cases in the areas of business, academia, scientific research, and the arts. She has given presentations at academic institutions, spoken at local panels and been a guest lecturer at Smith College and UMass. Ms. Kludt has been on the AILA National Board of Publications Committee since 2014 and has co-authored and edited publications on a variety of immigration topics. She is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the state bars of Massachusetts, Michigan and the U.S. District Courts for the state of Massachusetts.

Sharon Ralston is the Assistant Director for Scholar Services at Boston University’s International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO). BU hosts over 7000 international students and over 1100 international scholars annually. Sharon oversees scholar operations, insuring that her advising team provides timely and accurate advising to scholars and their inviting academic departments on many different immigration and employment issues. Sharon has been working in international education since her graduate school internship in 1993!! She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University and a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Virginia Tech.
