Understanding current financial issues and processes is crucial to study abroad staff and students.  Relationship building and information sharing between the study abroad office, registrar’s office and financial aid office are key in order to provide support for students. This panel presentation and discussion focuses on current financial aid, scholarship and funding issues and inventive ways of building connections in order to stay informed.

Katey Palumbo, the Director of International Programs at Worcester State University, has worked in the field of international education for over 15 years. In her current role, Katey counsels outgoing students pursuing study abroad opportunities as well as serving as the PDSO and RO for the campus. Katey currently serves on the NAFSA Financing Education Abroad Sub Committee. Her international experience includes living, working and teaching in Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Thailand and central Turkey.

Zachary Macinnes is the Outreach Coordinator and Study Away Program Manager for Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. Prior to joining Trinity, Zachary worked at International Studies Abroad (ISA) for over five years, a leading third-party study abroad provider, where he held leadership roles in University Relations and Marketing. Zachary has volunteered his time with several professional-related activities, including the Connecticut Area Study Abroad (CASA) Returnee Conference, the Boston Area Study Abroad Association (BASAA) and the NAFSA Region XI Conference Planning Team.

Andrea Haynes

Senior Regional Director of University Relations
International Studies Abroad

Andrea Haynes is a Senior Regional Director at International Studies Abroad, located in the Quincy office. Over the past eight years, Andrea has worked in various student affairs and international education roles at Asbury University, Belhaven University, Mississippi College, the College of Saint Rose, and International Studies Abroad. She has managed international programs, designed and led service learning trips, facilitated student leadership development, directed study abroad programs, overseen international student services as a PDSO and RO, and taught at an international university.
