This session will address the implementation of the new OPT STEM rule that went into effect in May 2016 from both the student and the employer perspectives.

Fumiko Futai is an Advisor in the International Scholars Office at MIT, an office serving approximately 2400 international scholars each year. For fifteen years, she has processed visa documents and petitions, provided support and advise to MIT departments and scholars on immigration matters related to J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1 and B-1/WB visas. She serves on campus committees representing the needs of the international population. Fumiko has presented at numerous Region XI NAFSA conferences, the national NAFSA conference, is currently a member of the NAFSA ISSRP Employment-Based Visa Subcommittee.
