EAA - Expanding Roles of the Education Abroad Adviser

Consider how “advising” has come to represent a specific role within education abroad programming. However, closer inspection reveals a role that is much more dynamic and demanding than it first seems. Changing needs of education abroad students throughout their program cycle demand that advisers apply different strategies to advise students effectively. In this workshop examine six critical roles comprising the adviser’s day to day work and improve your strategies and effectiveness as you move from role to role.

Audience: This workshop is an introductory workshop for education abroad advisers, study abroad providers, or others, who have been in the field for fewer than three years. Visit the NAFSA site for a full workshop description:

Erin manages the recruitment, housing, and orientation process for the WPI's faculty-led programs around the world. Previous to WPI, Erin worked for a small Boston based study abroad program provider and she also has experience designing faculty-led programs through her work with a customized tour provider. Erin has been a member of NAFSA’s Trainer Corps since 2015, presenting a local and national conferences, and completed the NAFSA Academy program in 2009. She earned her undergraduate degree in French and Education at Muhlenberg College, and her Master’s in Global and International Education from Drexel University.
