Traci Engel Lesneski, principal at national design firm MSR has over 20 years’ experience, mainly in designing learning spaces. Traci promotes an integrated design approach, believing that projects are most successful when multiple disciplines have a role in shaping them. Traci believes in designing for overall experience, equally valuing comfort, productivity, aesthetics, and delight. Designing spaces that can positively impact a person’s life motivates and inspires her—whether for a public library, an arts building, a university community center, or a workspace. Traci has made a name for herself as an inspiring designer and speaker, regularly presenting workshops and discussions nationally and internationally on library design. For example, she recently spoke about library design at the 2015 IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Cape Town, and spoke at the 2015 ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco. She has also contributed articles to New Library World, Library Journal and IFLA. She is chair of the ALA LLAMA/BES Architecture for Public Libraries Committee and secretary of the IFLA Library Buildings and Equipment section. Recent projects include the Tulsa City-County Central Library renovation, opening fall of 2016, and the award-winning transformation of the Madison Public Library (WI) Central Library.
