Katie Hirsch is a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Working under the direction of Dr. Abbie Smith-Ryan, she conducts research in the areas of nutrition and exercise for the improvement of body composition and metabolic health. Her dissertation is looking at the metabolic effects of high intensity interval training with and without essential amino acid supplementation. Katie completed her MA in Exercise Physiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her BS in Exercise Science at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Katie is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) and a Certified Sports Nutritionist with the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN).
