Dr. Sora Friedman has worked in the field of international education for 31 years, focusing on the administration of adult exchanges, public diplomacy, international training programs, high school exchanges, and international policy advocacy. She joined the SIT Graduate Institute faculty full-time in 2005. At SIT, Sora supports new IE professionals as they develop their skills and find their way into new professional opportunities. She teaches IE policy, program design, educational theory, and advocacy, among other topics, and serves as Chair of the IE degree program. During 2013-2015, Sora served(s) in the Chair-stream (Chair-elect/Chair/Past Chair) of the NAFSA Region XI leadership team; she has also served in several national leadership positions including Chair of the Training Coordination Subcommittee and the first Chair of Trainer Corps. Sora holds a doctorate in cultural studies, as well as a master’s degree in international administration and a certificate in distance education.
